Monday Accident on Highway 48 Near Menlo

An accident on Highway 48 near Pop’s Store sent an out of town person to the hospital.  The accident happened Monday afternoon when a tractor-trailer rear-ended a yellow Volkswagen that then rear ended a blue sedan that was stopped to make a left-hand turn towards the store.  Reportedly, one person from Carrollton, Georgia was transported by Redmond EMS with minor injuries. We will have more information on the accident when a report is released by the Georgia State Patrol.

Marijuana Plants Found in Alabama Man’s Car in Rome Traffic Stop

A Piedmont, Alabama man was booked into the Floyd County Jail after marijuana plants were reportedly found in his vehicle during a traffic stop Tuesday.

According to jail records, 21-year old Malachi Dustin Chandler was pulled over by Georgia State Troopers after he ran the red light at Shorter Avenue and Redmond Circle. He was then found in possession of an undisclosed quantity of marijuana plants.

Chandler is charged with manufacturing marijuana, failure to obey a traffic control device and driving on a suspended license.
