A county woman reported that $800 was missing from her account at Regions in Summerville Thursday morning.
The woman showed a responding deputy bank documents showing $800.00 was withdrawn from her bank account at her local bank’s ATM at about 1:30 AM that same morning.
She stated only she and her boyfriend had the PIN for the card, and that the card was locked in her vehicle at her house. As of Thursday, the deputy had contacted the bank and subpoenaed further documents and video from the ATM of the incident.
Georgia Power has restored power to 99% of customers, or 990,000 customers, impacted by Hurricane Irma.
More than 8,000 personnel were mobilized as part of the company’s restoration effort, including all of Georgia Power’s resources, as well as assistance from sister companies.
While work is nearly complete and ahead of schedule, all personnel in the field remain focused on reconnecting the limited number of customers who remain without power in the state due to the hurricane.
Chattooga County Sheriff Mark Schrader will be heading to Hardee County, FL tomorrow to deliver donations to victims of Hurricane Irma. Sheriff Schrader challenged all local officials to donate $25 each to help fund gas for the 9+ hour drive south.
The sheriff expressed his gratitude in a Facebook post to everyone who contributed to the donations, all of his employees and inmate workers who helped sort and load, and Dawn Anderson. He also thanked EZ Pawn, who helped negotiate with UHaul and Barry’s Auto Sales pay for the UHaul rental.

A county man called 911 Friday after fatally striking a calf with his minivan.
Reports say the man hit the calf around 1:30 PM on Holland-Chattoogaville Rd. while heading toward Hwy. 114, and that the calf died shortly after the deputy arrived on the scene.
His Dodge Caravan reportedly sustained damage on the driver side of the vehicle to the bumper, headlight, corner panel, and the hood, but was still functional and the man was able to drive from the scene.
