Bike Ride Across Georgia has announced a ride from Chattanooga to Atlanta coming up next month.  The route for the event will take riders through Chattooga County.

Hundreds of bicycle riders take part in Bike Ride Across Georgia events, and the riders are expected to be camping in Dowdy Park in Summerville during the ride from Chattanooga to Atlanta.

According to the group sponsoring the ride, “The Bicycle Ride Across Georgia (BRAG) is a not-for-profit dedicated to providing affordable, quality bicycle tours in and across the state of Georgia. Now in its 39th year, BRAG is the second oldest across-state bicycle tour in the world and attracts riders from across the United States. It has covered thousands of miles and touched hundreds of towns through the years. Along the routes, Georgia residents open up their towns and communities to participants, making for a truly memorable experience.”

The ride is expected to come to Summerville on Saturday, August 28th.

The Summerville City Council is expected to discuss the event at Monday evening’s City Council meeting.  The council will be hearing a proposal to allow the bicycle riders to be served alcohol while they are camped at Dowdy Park.
