The Chattooga County Beekeepers will be holding a seminar for those interested in learning more about bees and beekeeping. Deadline for registration for the class is fast approaching.
This will be the sixth year that the local bee keeper club has offered the class to help educate those interested in starting up beekeeping. The class will be led by local Chattooga County Beekeepers and will take place at the Chattooga County Agricultural Building, located on Middle School Drive in Summerville.
This how-to seminar will be led by club members and will provide an overview of beekeeping, as well as discussions on the biology behind the business, varieties of species, hive types and potential challenges a new beekeeper might face.
The cost for the class is $35 per person and lunch is provided. Pre-registration is required by January 9. For more information, call Randy Rolen at 423-304-2714. There will be no registration the day of the event. Send payments to Chattooga County Extension Agent Rebecca Thomas, 40 Middle School Road, Summerville, Georgia 30747.
