Judge Jon Payne with Chattooga Century Bike Rider on Saturday

The Chattooga Century Bike Ride was held on Saturday.  The event raises funds for Chattooga High School athletic programs and is the biggest fundraiser of the year for the Chattooga Athletic Boosters.

Around 90 participants were taking part in yesterday’s ride.  Riders had the options of several different routes, including a route that took riders up Lookout Mountain around State Line Road and Gilreath Mill Road and up Highway 157 and then through McLemore Cove and Davis Cross Roads then back down Chamberlain Road to Highway 337 and back to Chattooga High School.  Another route took riders through Alabama and back up Jamestown Road.

The Chattooga Athletic Booster Club sponsors numerous small-scale fundraisers throughout the year, but the Chattooga Century is the major fundraising project for the club.  Funds raised are used towards the purchase of equipment, summer camps and to meet the needs of all sports at Chattooga High School.
