A seventeen-year-old Chattooga High School student was arrested on Wednesday of this week after video footage confirmed that he walked up to another student and punched them in the face.
According to a report from the sheriff’s office, School Resource Officer Mike Howard said that Christian Michael Blackmon approached the victim who was seated in the gym at Chattooga High School. The victim was hit in the face and on the head. The blows left the victim with bruises and swelling to the right eye.
According to the deputy’s report, the victim was seated in a defenseless position at the time of the assault and attempted to lean backward to avoid the physical confrontation, but was unable to get up and defend himself, due to Blackmon standing close to him.
The deputy went on to say in his report, “The assault appeared, on video, to be unprovoked and neither the victim nor offender could provide a clear motive for the assault.
