Martin Promoted to Deputy Warden at Walker SP PDF Print E-mail

Georgia Department of Corrections Commissioner Homer Bryson recently announced the promotion of Lavon Martin to Deputy Warden of Security at Walker State Prison effective December 1, 2016.

As Deputy Warden, Martin will be responsible for supervising and managing 86 security staff and more than 400 medium security male offenders.

Martin started his career with the Department in 1990 as a Detail Officer at the Colquitt County Correctional Institution.  In 1992, he transitioned to Hays Sate Prison in Chattooga County as a Correctional Officer.  He was promoted, in 1996, to Sergeant at Hays State Prison.

In 2001, he became the CERT Sergeant at Hays State Prison, and served in this capacity until 2008, when he was promoted to Lieutenant.  In 2013, Martin was promoted to Captain at Walker SP, where he currently serves.
