Ms. Mary Alice Wilson Whaley, age 89, of Summerville, GA, died Wednesday, February 1, 2017, at the Cherokee County Health and Rehabilitation Center in Centre, AL.
Ms. Whaley was born February 1, 1928, in Tifton, GA, daughter of the late Aden Allen Ross and Stella Doyle Wilson. She was of the Baptist faith, and prior to her retirement, was employed with Marglen. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Eugene Whaley, Sr.; son, Roy Eugene Whaley, Jr.; and a grandson, Roddy Jones.
Ms. Whaley is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald E. Whaley, Fred and Kathy Whaley, and Phyllis Whaley; daughter and son-in-law, Jeanette and Rodney Jones; 13 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Ms. Whaley will be held at 2:00 P.M. (E.S.T.) Sunday, February 5, 2017, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Tracy Nelson officiating. Interment will follow in the Oaknoll Memory Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Tyler Dillard, Chad Dillard, Josh Dillard, T. J. Whaley, Orville E. Whaley, and Jacob Spraggins. Honorary pallbearers will be the Nurses and C.N.A.’s at Cherokee County Health and Rehabilitation Center and the staff of Compassus Hospice Care of Southside, AL.
Ms. Whaley will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon (E.S.T.) until the hour of service on Sunday.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations be made to the Heritage Christian School, 4417 County Road 75, Cedar Bluff, AL 35959.
