A cashier at Wal-Mart in Trion recently fell prey to a quick-change scam by an unidentified suspect.

According to a report released by the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Department, the incident was reported last week.

A quick-change scam is when an individual targets a cashier by paying for small priced items with a large bill. Before the cashier can give back the change the suspect engages the cashier in a speedy series of money exchanges thereby confusing the cashier.

In this incident, a black male approached the cashier wanting to pay for razors that totaled $1.88.  He gave the cashier a $100 bill and then asked for change several times from the cashier.  The cashier got confused and the suspect got away with $300 from the cash register.
