The Summerville City Council will be meeting this evening at the Summerville City Hall Council Room, and they have a full agenda for the meeting.
Summerville City Manager Tony Carrol says that the city council will hear a proposal from Great Southern Recreation concerning a proposed “splash park”. The park would be a smaller scale than originally envisioned, but would be expandable.
The council will also discuss a proposal by Summerville Councilman Earl Parris to change the building inspector’s hours from 8 AM until 5 PM, instead of evening hours. Right now the Summerville Building Inspector works another job and only does inspections during off-hours from the other job. This measure would give Summerville a full-time building inspector that works regular business hours.
The council is also expected to take up the issue of the city garage. They are considering a motion that would demolish the old building and construct a new one, with the cost not to exceed $40,000.
Other items on the agenda tonight include changes to the penalties for stores caught selling alcohol to minors and consideration for a liquor license for The Willow Tree Grill.
This evening’s council meeting will be held at 6 PM and the public is invited to attend.
