A thirty-six year old man was arrested by Summerville Police for possession of methamphetamine last Saturday night.

While police were dealing with a disturbance at Hops and Haze on Commerce Street in Summerville, they observed a subject that was trying to avoid them.  Officers said that the man ran across the street to the theater to avoid police.  He then crossed back over Commerce Street and was in front of the Commissioner's Office.

When officers spoke with the man, they asked him if he had been drinking.  The man said that he hadn't been drinking so police asked why he had been avoiding them.

Police identified the suspect at Daniel Lewis.  After running his identification, Mr. Lewis was arrested on outstanding warrants.  Officers asked Lewis if he had anything illegal on his person.  After giving consent to search, officers found what they believed to be crystal meth in a cigarette pack on Mr. Lewis.

Police said that patrons at Hops and Haze said that Lewis was attempting to sell narcotics at the establishment.
