The Bank of Lafayette reported the theft of a green tin roof to the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Department.

According to a report that was filed recently, Wade Gilbert with the Bank of Lafayette came to a residence on Nellie Lane in Summerville to check on a house that his bank has in foreclosure.

The residence was slated to be auctioned off earlier this month.  When Mr. Gilbert arrived on the scene he discovered that green metal roof that had been on the structure had been removed.  Gilbert had pictures of the house with the green metal roof still intact that he showed the responding deputy.

When asked, neighbors said that they had not seen anyone stealing the roofing.

The roof was worth about $5,000, according to the Bank of Lafayette.
