The Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) has awarded 23 contracts for statewide transportation projects totaling $244,142,102.

The seventeen counties of Northwest Georgia claimed nearly $4 million in two construction project awards. These projects were advertised in January, bids were received on February 17, and contracts were awarded on March 3 to the lowest qualified bidder.

The awards focus on construction and operational improvements that enhance safety and address congestion, and resurfacing and maintenance projects.

A contract awarded by the Georgia DOT will resurface 6.250 miles on SR 337 in Chattooga County, beginning at Hair Lake Road and extending to the Walker County line.  The value of this contract is $1,414,441. It was awarded to Talley Construction Company, Inc. of Rossville, Georgia.

Information on construction and lane closure schedules on these projects will be forthcoming before work begins.
