The Summerville News recently reported that Chattooga County Commissioner Jason Winters is optimistic that the state will come through with money for a bypass to link Georgia Highway 100 and Georgia Highway 48 in Summerville.

The commissioner’s plan for the bypass comes with a price-tag of about $10 million.  The commissioner told the local newspaper that he doesn’t expect the state to fully fund the project this year, but he is optimistic that some commitment will be made during this legislative session of the Georgia General Assembly.

The commissioner believes that the bypass will reduce congestion on the south end of Commerce Street in downtown Summerville and be helpful for industry in the county.
