The Georgia DOT says that four "mega-loads" of equipment are making their way across Georgia, bound for Roper Corporation in Lafayette.

The first shipment weighs over 729,000 pounds and is 290 feet long and twenty feet wide.  A rig with 156 tires and wheels is pulling the machine press from the port at Savannah to Northwest Georgia. One of the loads arrived in Lafayette last night.

The Georgia DOT says that the shipments are being pulled across the state at night to lessen the impact of traffic.  Six Georgia State Troopers are escorting the loads bound for Roper.
