A business that is located at the Old Pennville School reported the attempted theft of a transmission last week.

According to an incident report  from the sheriff’s department, the owners of the business, known as “Trucks Campers and Boats” that is located at the old school property said that someone came on the property and attempted to steal a transmission out of one of the truck on the lot of the business.

Stacy and Pete Vaughn showed a responding deputy a 2011 white Chevrolet HD "Hy Rail" pickup truck which had been backed up and parked on the south side of the building.

The deputy said that he observed a large amount of transmission fluid on the ground under and in front of the truck. Several tools, along with a torque converter from the vehicle, were also lying on the ground on each side of the truck. The drive shaft and transmission, along with the starter, had been disconnected and hanging down but were still with the vehicle.

The case was turned over to an investigator.
