Rome Police are investigating a reported armed robbery Sunday morning, in which a woman told them that $275 in proceeds from a church bake sale were stolen.

According to reports, the victim told officers that she was walking to Bojangles' on Martha Berry Boulevard as she always does before church.

As she turned down McDonald Street from DeSoto Avenue, a man approached her from behind, put a large knife to the left side of her neck and said: "Give me all your money."

She said the man made off with the money, which was in an envelope inside her purse.

The suspect took nothing else from the purse, according to the woman.

She said the suspect ran down McDonald Street toward Martha Berry.

She described the suspect as a black male, 5'6" to 5'7" and weighing about 200 pounds.

He was wearing black pants and a red or green hoodie.

The police officer stated that he told the woman that there were inconsistencies in her story but she insisted the events transpired just as she had said they did.
