A deputy patrolling in the Centerpost Road area last Friday night came upon a man pushing a Yamaha motorcycle down the road.

When the deputy stopped to speak with the man the man said that the bike was broke down and continued pushing the motorcycle towards Cummings Road.  The deputy exited his patrol car and the man pushed the bike into a ditch and got into a pickup truck with Tennessee tags.

The female driver of the truck, later identified as Amy Hogue asked if they could leave to get the man’s truck to pick up the motorcycle.  The deputy told the couple that they could not leave at that point the man got out of the truck and walked back to the motorcycle and pulled something from the rear compartment and put it in his pocket.

The deputy gave the man verbal commands to stop, but he continued running.

The deputy then spoke with the driver, Ms. Hogue, who said that the man’s name was Chris Dalton and he had gotten the motorcycle from her ex-husband.

The tags on the motorcycle came back registered to a Harley-Davidson.  Ms. Hogue told the deputy that she did not know if the motorcycle was stolen.

The deputy found digital scales and a drinking straw in the compartment of the motorcycle.  Upon being given consent to search the truck that Ms. Hogue was driving, the deputy found syringes and a hypodermic needle.

Ms. Hogue said that Dalton lived on Rape Drive in Lafayette.  The deputy discovered that Dalton may have several warrants out in Walker County.

The driver, Ms. Hogue was allowed to leave the scene and the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Department is taking out a warrant on Mr. Dalton in connection with the incident.
