Former Floyd County Building Inspector Employee Pleads Guilty to Theft PDF Print E-mail

A former employee with the Rome-Floyd County Building Inspection Department has pleaded guilty to theft by taking and theft by conversion.

According to previous reports, in February of 2014, the Rome Police Department began investigating allegations of theft from the City of Rome Building Inspection Department.

Due to a lot of records to be analyzed, the services of a Forensic Accountant with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation was requested.

At the conclusion of the investigation, it was determined that former City of Rome Building Inspection employee, Deanna Dennis-Fain, converted more than $121,000 of City of Rome funds to her own use.

On April 22, 2015, with the assistance of the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office, she was taken into custody.

She was later indicted for taking over $24,999.99 between Jan. 1, 2012 and Feb. 28, 2014,

Fain will be sentenced on July 27.
