A thirty-year-old Summerville man was arrested on Monday for unlawful conduct during a 911 call and resisting arrest at his mother’s house.

Summerville Police Officers were called to a West Washington Street address after a man had called 911.  When officers arrived a resident at the house told officers that Matthew Sprayberry had locked himself in the bathroom and was refusing to come out.  The resident also said that Sprayberry had been doing meth.

Officers spoke with Sprayberry through the bathroom door about calling 911.  Sprayberry denied making the call, however he was on an open line with Chattooga 911 while officers were talking with him.

Sprayberry’s mother said that she wanted him gone from the house. She said that he was just supposed to be there for the night, but his behavior was unacceptable.

According to reports, the officers tried to get Sprayberry to come with them peacefully, but he was acting in an erratic manner.   Officers say that Spraberry covered himself with a bed sheet and refused to comply with officers. After being given verbal warnings, officers were forced to use a taser on Sprayberry.

He was finally taken into custody and booked into the Chattooga County Jail
