The Chattooga County Sheriff’s Department received a report of credit card fraud late last week where a county resident’s debit card was used to purchase phone cards for prisoners without her permission.

The woman who lives on Little Sand Mountain Road told a responding deputy that someone had used her Greater Rome Bank debit card to purchase two phone cards for prisoners.

The debit card has since been cancelled and the case is under investigation.
