The Georgia State Patrol accident reconstruction team is working on a report about the accident that happened last night on Highway 27 in Chattooga County at Taylor's Ridge.

According to reports, the two-vehicle collision happened when a 2006 Kia Spectrum headed North veered into the path of a southbound 1999 Nissan Quest that resulted in a head-on collision.   The Kia flipped over, ejecting two passengers.  One of the passengers was an eleven-year-old boy that was killed as a result of the accident. The name of the child is expected to be released later today by Chattooga County Coroner Earl Rainwater, pending notification of family members.

Several adults were transported to area hospitals and one was sent by Lifeforce to a Chattanooga hospital.

AM 1180 spoke with the Georgia State Patrol Post in Rome this morning and the accident  is still under investigation.

We will have more details as they become available.

The name of the child who was killed in the accident has been released.  The child was eleven-year-old Kendrick Hines.  He was a student at Leroy Massey Elementary School.  Sheriff Mark Schrader said that the school system will have grief counselors on hand at Leroy Massey Elementary School.
