A local towing business reported a case of check fraud to the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Department this week. According to a report released from the sheriff’s department, Luallen’s Wrecker Service told a responding deputy that a Trion woman had written a check to the business, and it turns out that the check was written on a closed account. When the business owner contacted the Trion resident, the woman reportedly refused to come in and make the check good. The business owner had a copy of the check written on the closed account and wanted a report filed about the incident. The business said that they wished to file criminal charges in connection with the incident.
