Miss Hallie Lea Martin, age 98 of Trion, Georgia passed away Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at Oakview Nursing and Rehab Center.

Miss Martin was born in Summerville, Georgia on January 1, 1921 daughter of the late Walter S. Martin and Bessie Moore Martin. Miss Martin retired as a clerical assistant from Shropshire & Guffin/Guffin & Elam and was a member of the Trion United Methodist Church, where she was active in all church activities.  She travelled several times with the Billy Graham Crusades, was a former secretary for the Historical Society and enjoyed cooking, sewing, making jewelry, playing the piano, bird watching and walking. In addition to her parents, Miss Martin was preceded in death by, brother, Joseph “JC” Martin, sister, Georgia Lou Martin, nephew, Lamar Martin and an aunt, Docia M. Moore.

Miss Martin is survived by her nieces, Mardean Martin Loggins, Glynda Martin Searels and Charlsie Martin Johnston; and a number of great nieces and great nephews and great, great nieces and great great nephews.

Funeral Services for Miss Martin will be held Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. in the Petitt Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home, with Rev. Jimmy Weaver officiating. Interment will follow in the Pennville Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Marty Loggins, Jessie Loggins, Jason Ware, Jim Searels, Brian Johnston and Aaron Woods. Honorary Pallbearers will be G-Hall Staff of Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Miss Martin will be in state at the Coffman Funeral Home where the family will receive friends Wednesday from 1:00 until the funeral hour.

In lieu of flowers the family respectfully request that donations be made in Miss Martin’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association.
