Memorial Day is not far away. That’s the traditional day for public pools to open up around the state. A new study has come out that says one in four Georgia public pools turned up a safety violation when they were inspected.

The Water Quality and Health Council is recommending that you check out a pool’s inspection report before you get in. They also remind people to take a good shower with soap before you get in…that most of the contamination in a pool comes off of the swimmers.

In recent years both the City of Summerville and the Town of Trion have closed their public swimming pools.  Chattooga County residents closest options for public swimming pools are now in Rome and at Desoto State Park in Mentone, Alabama or the Lafayette Recreation Department.
