Today you can take your pick with the weather. The National Weather Service in Peachtree City, Georgia says that we will see a variety of weather conditions for our Friday.
A front moving into Northwest Georgia today is expected to bring heavy rains and strong winds, and forecasters say that they cannot rule out the possibility of some tornado activity between noon and 2 PM in our area.
We are starting the day off with mild temperatures in the 50’s, but by late this afternoon we will see a dramatic shift in our temperatures as the front moves across Chattooga County and Northwest Georgia. Rain and thunderstorms are expected this morning and temperatures are expected to fall after 2 PM this afternoon.
The National Weather Service has issued a Special Weather Statement saying that there could be slick roads and black ice after the temperatures fall this afternoon, due to the amount of water on the roadways, plus the possibility of residual frozen precipitation later this evening and tonight.
Overnight tonight, we could see some light snow showers due to wrap around moisture from the system. No significant accumulations are expected, but higher elevations could see up to an inch of snow with valley areas getting a dusting.
When we wake up on Saturday temperatures will be bitterly cold again with temperatures in the twenties and strong winds bringing us frigid wind-chills.
