A single-vehicle accident on Highway 48 at Cloudland injured an Alabama driver yesterday, after the car left the roadway and overturned.

Cloudland Fire Department, Menlo Fire Department, Chattooga County Deputies and the Georgia State Patrol worked the accident scene.

The accident happened between River Haven Drive and the caution light at Georgia Highway 157.  The Pontiac convertible involved in the accident was traveling eastbound on Highway 48.  Visible skid marks on Highway 48 indicated that the driver veered sharply and left the roadway overturning and coming to rest in a wooded area.

At one point, Redmond EMS called for Life Force; however, the air medical transport request was canceled.  The driver did not appear to have any life-threatening injuries.

More information will be released when a report is completed by the Georgia State Patrol Post in Rome.
