An accident Thursday morning in Summerville left a six-year-old boy with minor injuries, according to a police report.

Police worked the accident at the intersection of the Lyerly Highway (Highway 114) and Montgomery Street.  According to the report, thirty-six-year-old Emily Hampton of Summerville was attempting to make a left-hand turn off of Highway 114 onto Montgomery Street in a 2008 Honda Accord when she pulled into the path of a 2007 Toyota Camry being driven by fifty-nine-year-old Barbara Dover of Trion.

The report indicated that both vehicles received heavy damage.  The injured boy was a passenger in Hampton’s vehicle and was taken by Redmond EMS to a hospital in Rome for treatment.
