The Summerville City Council is expected to meet on Monday and one of the things that they will be discussing is the hiring of a permanent City Manager. Currently Janice Galloway, the former director of the Summerville Water Treatment Plant, is serving as interim city manager.
According to The Summerville News, the city has received several applications for the position, and Interim City Manager Janice Galloway says that she is one of the people who has applied for the position.
The position came open when City Manager Tony Caroll passed away earlier this year. It was at that time that the city council voted to hire Galloway as interim city manager.
According to an ad in the paper this week, the city has changed their requirements for the position. Earlier they had said that the position required a bachelor’s degree – now the city is saying that they “prefer” a bachelor’s degree.
The city says that they hope to make a determination on hiring a city manager by September 4th.
