On Friday, September 7th, students from Trion High School ventured to the Floyd County campus of Georgia Northwestern Technical College for “Industrial Career Day.” The event was from 8:30 AM to 2:30 PM, making it a day filled with enriching activities for students. Kayleen McCabe, a host quite proficient in the topic of industrial careers, was a guest speaker at the event.

Curious students got the chance to learn about GNTC’s industrial programs through a variety of opportunities. Students could speak with instructors from GNTC, as well as view demonstrations of the different program areas offered. The students also had the chance to gain insight from local employers and former students. Both of which gave them valuable information about industrial learning and careers.

The list of programs featured was impressive, ranging from automotive technology to horticulture. In total, 12 different programs were represented for the attendees to learn about.

THS students had a wonderful, enriching experience. Each student who went received a free GNTC shirt. Snacks were provided and music was played, creating a fun and welcoming environment. Attendees will keep this knowledge they gained from Industrial Career Day close as they themselves set out onto their own voyages through life.
