New details have come emerged regarding a head-on crash that occurred Monday on Hwy 27 near the Summerville Motel.
Around 5:30 PM, twenty-six-year-old Summerville man Trace Bethune attempted to pass in a no-passing lane, and subsequently hit a Honda Element head-on in his Nissan Altima. Both Bethune and the driver of the Element were injured, and both were transported to Floyd Hospital in Rome. Entrapment was reported, and Redmond EMS, Gore Fire Dept., and Georgia State Patrol responded.
Bethune, who was named the driver at fault, was issued a traffic citation for attempting to pass in a no-passing zone. Georgia State Patrol’s Rome post worked and investigated the crash; no charges were filed against either party.
