According to Summerville Police, an accident on Highway 48 near Lyerly street resulted in a citation for a driver failing to have a child in a child safety seat.  Police say that Ray Marvin Caldwell was driving a Ford Ranger on Lyerly Street in Summerville this past Friday; as he approached the intersection to turn on Highway 48, the passenger door of the Ranger came open, causing his wife and their two-year-old daughter to fall from the vehicle.

The woman and child fell on the pavement.  The child was not injured and the mother had pavement burns on her foot, legs and face.  Family members transported the wife to an area hospital for treatment.

Ray Marvin Caldwell, Jr. was cited for a child safety seat violation in connection with the accident that happened on Friday afternoon.
