A burglary of a Starling Mill Road residence in Lyerly was reported to the Chattooga County sheriff’s office earlier this month.
On Tuesday, December 18th, Mrs. Patty Keith informed a responding deputy that her mother’s property had apparently been raided. The property had been vacant for about a month, Keith said, while her mother visited a friend out of town.
Keith went on to say that there were “several tire marks in the grass where someone had pulled a vehicle”, “the back door had been broken into”, and that far too many items had been taken for her to begin listing them or to estimate the monetary damage to her mother. Many of the stolen items were antiques, she added.
The case was turned over to a county investigator, and extra patrol was posted in the area.
