Two of the Four West Nile Virus cases in the State of Georgia are in Floyd County. That’s according to Dr. Wade Sellers, director of Northwest Georgia Public Health.
A 63 year old patient is hospitalized in Floyd County and has been confirmed to have West Nile Virus. The patient reported receiving multiple mosquito bites. According to health officials, the patient is recovering and will be entering rehab soon.
Public Health officials remind residents that mosquito’s are still active despite the cooler weather. Residents should take precautions to limit the habitats of mosquito’s on their property and take steps to reduce the risks of mosquito bites.
