Gov. Sonny Perdue appointed three people to the Northwest Georgia Regional Commission on Friday. The commission, formerly known as the Coosa Valley Regional Development Center, offers planning and development for local governments.

The appointees named Friday are Billy Croker, a former Polk County Commissioner, Butch Jones of Gilmer County, and Melissa Mathis, superintendent of Walker County Schools. Croker is the 2009 chairman.
