3 killed in Everett Springs Road crash

Three people were killed early Sunday morning and another man was injured in a single-vehicle crash on Everett Springs Road in northern Floyd County.

According to Sgt. Carl Lively and Cpl. Greg Beck of the Floyd County Police Department:

Fire, rescue and police units responded at 1:43 a.m. Sunday to a wreck on Everett Springs Road just north of Camp Sidney Dew. A Jeep Wrangler traveling south apparently went off the roadway and hit a tree. Beck said the Wrangler then re-entered the roadway, flipped on its side and ignited.

A male and female — the driver and front passenger — were killed in the crash. According to Deputy Coroner Ernie Studard, the victims were identified as Dustin Bailey Dockrey, 28, of Dews Pond Road in Calhoun and Brandi Rogers, 24, of 561 Highway 411 in Ranger.

Both were pronounced dead about 3 a.m.

A third victim died of her injuries on Sunday evening at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, according to Deputy Coroner Gene Proctor.

He said 20-year-old Jessica Woodard of 35 Firetower Road in Jasper, died early Sunday night from severe trauma.

Police said it appeared that Woodard was thrown from the vehicle in the crash, and she was life-flighted to Grady for treatment.

Beck also said a male passenger, Brad Dillard, was able to escape from the vehicle after the crash and was taken to Floyd Medical Center for treatment. He was reported to be in satisfactory condition on Sunday night.

Beck said the Jeep was destroyed by the fire, and a cause for the wreck had yet to be determined.

“We’re looking into all possible avenues of what could have happened at this time,” he said.
