Around 400 farmers from across the state of Georgia have come to Chattooga County as the guests of the Chattooga County Chapter of the Young Farmers. The farmers were treated to a steak dinner last night at the Reynolds Barn on Sloppy Floyd Lake Road in Summerville and today will begin a tour of sites that are of interest to agricultural producers.
The Young Farmers will visit JP Smith Lumber Company in Menlo today and then travel to Lookout Mountain where they will visit Burt’s Beef – a company owned by Teddy Gentry that grows and sells pasture raised beef. They will then tour the internationally known genetics company GENEX and then Tennessee River Music – the cattle farm owned by Randy and Kelly Owen.
AM 1180 Chattooga County Radio is proud to be one of the local sponsors for the 2009 Young Farmers Tour in Chattooga County.
