Heil Company Officials have announced that the company will-lay off approximately 80 employees this week, and according to Heil spokesperson Kristen Simpson many of those lay-offs will take place at the Ft Payne plant. She said declining orders for the waste refuse vehicles manufactured by the company are the main reason for the decision. The lay-offs come after Heil cut about 100 jobs in January in an effort to reduce costs. At that time, Heil’s total workforce at its Ft Payne facility was 675, which was up from 575 a year ago at that time.
