Under a new law that went into effect Georgia Voters can now vote early in the upcoming General Election without having a specific reason for doing so.  In the past voters were required to have certain circumstances in order to obtain an absentee ballot.

Under the current rules, voters can go to the registrars office and simply request an absentee ballot without stating any specific reason.  The new state law allowing absentee voting early without giving a reason covers only mailed-in ballots.

Early voting using the electronic voting machines will not take place until October 27th.
