An accident on Thursday evening on Filter Plant Road left a Chattooga County man with injuries and a trip to the hospital and then to jail.
The accident took place on Filter Plant Road about 1/2 mile from the intersection of Highway 48 just north of McGraw Road. Trooper Cochran with the Georgia State Patrol Post in Rome said that Erin Stricklin was travelling south from Highway 48 on Filter Plant Road in a 1995 Honda Civic when he lost control of the vehicle and struck a culvert in a private drive.
The accident occured around 8 PM. Witnesses on the scene told AM 1180 that Stricklin was not cooperative with EMS workers when they arrived to look at his injuries. He was transported to Floyd Medical Center by Chattooga County EMS.
Trooper Cochran said the Stricklin suffered a broken right ankle and was bruised badly from the accident. Stricklin was charged with DUI, Failure to Maintain a Single Lane and Open Container.
