Several months ago Chattooga County Commissioner Jason Winters and the Chattooga County Young Farmers along with others concerned about agriculture in the county presented plans to build an "Ag Center" in the county.  The first phase of the project is a pavilion that will be constructed to host ag related events.

Commissioner Winters told AM 1180 on Monday afternoon that Morrisson Surveying is conducting the surveys of the area for the proposed Pavilion this week to determine the best suitable place for the building.

The building will be supplied by local manufacturer Smith Iron Works of Lyerly.  Commissioner Winters said that he plans to use local contractors to prepare the site and prison labor to construct the building.

At a meeting of agricultural producers last month, Winters stated that the building would be built this year.
