A Rainsville man, died Monday morning at his home shop after a pressurized refrigeration tank he was working on exploded.
According to Rainsville Police Chief Charles Centers officers and firefighters arrived at the Park Avenue home just before 10:00am to found 75 year old James White dead at the scene. Officers quickly noticed the strong smell of ammonia inside the shop where White was working; he was reportedly attempting to put new gauges on the refrigeration tank, when the accident took place.
Police say the pressure blast, which also damaged the shop, appeared to be the cause of death; there was no fire. Two men working on a nearby house heard the blast and immediately called authorities. Officials with the State Fire Marshal`s Office also assisted in the investigation.
