AM1180 Chattooga Country Radio News spoke with Commissioner Elect Jason Winters regarding the resignation of Chattooga County Animal Control Officer Joe Johnston. Winters said that he was not aware of the resignation until he read it in todays addition of The Summerville News. Johnstons’s resignation will be in effect as of midnight tonight(Wednesday). Commissioner Elect Winters is meeting public works director Lamar Canda this afternoon(Wed) to discuss interim plans for Animal Control until another officer can be hired. Johnston served as a contract employee for Chattooga County. Chattooga County Animal Control also provides animal control on a contract basis for serveral municipalities in the county.
