The Town of Menlo is one person short on its town council as of last week when Menlo City Council Member Patti Settoon resigned her position. Because Ms. Settoon had served on the council longer than a year, the town of Menlo will not have to replace her position. Mayor Theresa Canada said that since the council has a quorum the position will not have to be filled until the next election.
The Town of Lyerly is also working short of council members. Currently there are only 3 council members on the Lyerly Town Council. Local leader say that it is getting dificult to find people willing to put forth the time and effort it takes to serve in municipal government. Lyerly is considering moving to reduce the number of council members that serve.
In Menlo, Mayor Canada read a resignation letter from former council member Settoon saying that she was resigning her position for personal reasons.
