A house fire in Armuchee Friday morning destroyed the structure, as well as a number of cars, and resulted in one arrest.

Floyd County Police investigator Jeff Jones said the blaze started in the garage.

Police arrested resident Kevin Shane Osborne, 29, of 6 Glenwood School Road on felony drug and gun charges. Police reported Osborne asked firefighters to pull a plastic tub from the burning house, which police later found contained 3 ounces of marijuana individually packaged for sale.

Osborne was also reported to have tried to drive away in a white late model Toyota Tacoma pickup truck, where police found a Kel-Tec .380 caliber handgun. The truck was later towed away from the scene.

He was taken to the Floyd County Jail where he was charged Friday with felony possession of marijuana, felony possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, felony possession of marijuana within 1,000 feet of a school and felony possession of a handgun during the commission of a crime.
