An Armuchee man was jailed over the weekend on aggravated assault charges after he allegedly hit a family member with an antique iron, reports stated.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

James Manuel Painter, 57, of 68 Scott Road, caused cuts and bruises to the family member’s face when he hit the person with the iron. He also threatened another family member with the iron while at a home on Painter Road Sunday afternoon.

In addition to the aggravated assault charges Painter is charged with battery under the Family Violence Act.
