It’s going to be another hot day in Northwest Georgia with temperatures forecasted in the mid to upper 90’s.
During the extreme heat people should drink plenty of water, stay in an air-conditioned room and keep out of the sun as much as possible – if you have to be outdoors be sure to wear loose-fitting, light colored clothing, along with sunglasses, and a wide-brimmed hat. Also remember to check on the elderly, and ensure that pets have plenty of fresh water to drink and a shady place to cool off.
Heat related illness occurs when the body`s temperature control system is overloaded – the Public Health officials caution everyone to be alert to the warnings that may signal help is needed. HEAT STROKE – sometimes called sunstroke, is the most serious heat-related illness; it occures when the body becomes unable to control its temperature
