While last year’s Northwest Georgia Balloon Festival was plagued by rainy weather and storms, this year the Balloons have been able to launch.  On Friday evening the Balloons could be seen over Menlo and then again on Saturday.

Organizers keep a close watch on the weather to make sure conditions are right before launching the balloons.  Balloon launches are held at the Northwest Georgia Balloon Festival in Menlo at 6 AM and 6 PM.

The event, which organizers say drew 10,000 people last year to Chattooga County, was expected to draw around 20,000 people this year.  Several organizations benefit from the proceeds including the Best Scholarship Fund and local fire departments along with the Menlo Recreation Department.
