There was a bank robbery this morning in Cedar Bluff, Alabama. According to reports up to four suspects were involved in the armed robbery of the Union State Bank around 11:24 Alabama time. The suspects were observed leaving the bank and getting into an older model Nissan Maxima. Law enforcement was dispatched and the car was spotted on Highway 35 headed west towards DeKalb County, Alabama. Law enforcement chased the vehicle west on Highway 35.
As the car neared Lookout Mountain near Blanche, 10 miles South of Menlo, Georgia, the suspects began throwing clothing and money out the window of the car. The vehicle crashed between the foot of the mountain and Little River Canyon. Two suspects were apprehended and the search is on for two more suspects.
Cherokee County Law Enforcement along with Alabama State Troopers and FBI agents have sealed off Highway 35 between Blanche and Little River Canyon. A state helicopter has been called in to assist in the search for the other two suspects in the Little River Canyon area of Lookout Mountain.
