The BBQ, Stew and Chili Cook-off is Saturday at Dowdy Park, This weekend's event is a fundraiser for the Well, in Summerville. The well is a homeless shelter for women and children. The event is part of the Steam into Summerville Railroad Days 2012. About 175 passengers are expected to travel steam engine from Chattanooga to Summerville on Saturday. They will be greeted by representatives of the City of Summerville and community representatives. There will be train whistles and tee shirts available at the depot on Saturday. Farm Day is Oct 27 at Dowdy Park and will feature vendors and exhibits that represent the rural aspects of Chattooga County. An old fashioned mini carnival is also planned for Children. The winners of the Summerville Scarecrow Contest will also be announced at the event. Vendor set up is free and there are still spaces available. You can register at the Summerville Recreation Department. Residents are also invited to bring their antique tractors to exhibit at the event. Those planning on bringing a tractor are asked to let someone know at the Summerville Recreation Dept.
The final event of the Steam into Summerville is the North Georgia's Cruiser's Cruse-in set for November 3. All events are free.
